Excellent shop vac! It has the power of a large shop vac but probably half the weight of our previous all plastic wider shop vac. The height is perfect; not too top heavy, not as much floor space taken when storing. The hose is very flexible with decent attachments. The mesh bag of attachments gets held onto the tub with a rubber strap. Works well right now, could see the rubber wearing out over the years but we’ll see. Only short term negative is the vacuum smelled strongly of plastic when first turned on, but after an hour or two of use the smell seems to have dissipated and not returning.

Overall pretty happy with the product!

I recently purchased this product and was unable to complete the registration because the model #DXV08SA could not be found. After reaching out to their customer support team, I was informed that this product is actually manufactured by Alton.

The product is shipped in a DeWalt box and is branded as a DeWalt. I was unable to find any references to this model number on the Alton website.

That said, this product has gotten pretty good reviews. It seems pretty well put together and time will tell if this was a smart purchase or not.

I think from a consumer protection standpoint, Costco needs to put some fine print on the web page for this particular product, identifying it as manufactured by a third party.

I bought this about two years ago to replace a larger shop-vac, brand wet dry vac. And it still functions to this day. However, the main drawbacks are the smaller hose diameter makes it difficult to find accessories that are more available for the two inch diameter hose, it’s not as powerful, and plastic hose retaining clip is weak and mine broke off at just over two years of use. Compared to my previous shop-vac brand wet dry vacuum, this vacuum is less durable and less powerful. I can’t recommend this vacuum for anybody that really intends to use this in their shop.

I scooped this up for $60 since it was a deal and hard to pass up. This product isn’t actually made by Dewalt, isn’t supported by Dewalt, and has a 3-year non-transferrable limited warranty. I was trying to find a PDF of the user’s manual but this product isn’t listed on Dewalt’s site or even the manufacturer, Alton Industries, so this product is just weird.

If you’re okay with those issues, the vacuum so far does what it needs to. The hose and cord store neatly on top of the vacuum and there’s a decent assortment of accessories. Build quality feels pretty good, and the sucking pressure feels just as strong as other shop vacs I’ve used. I wish there was storage on the vacuum for the accessories or the extensions.

Just bought this. easy to put together. exception is the hose. it has a plastic clip lke fitting on end that is supposed to expand and clip into another plastic fitting on the body. if you pull on the hose to move the container the hose pulls out. it needs something to expand the plastic clip to make a secure connection. alton manufactures this for dewalt.. i am trying to call to see if I can get a host to replace this one. no one answers i had to leave my phone number the problem and request they call back. i give them a day before i take this back to costco. alton want me to send a copy of my reciept and call. they will let you know in 72 hours if they will give you your money back per the warranty page. it seems good mechanically but i do think this companies service needs help.

This is my first shop vacuum. I got it to suck up all the dirt, leaves, and gravel that accumulated on my garage floor after years of not cleaning it. I’m not very “handy” but even as a petite woman over 40, this was relatively easy for me to put together, lift, and move around. It did a great job cleaning everything up, it handled all the larger debris with no problem. The hose could be a little longer, but then storage might be more difficult, so not a big gripe. Very happy with this purchase.

I did some research around the Alton manufacturing mentioned in other reviews. I ultimately decided it wasn’t a big deal that I couldn’t register it with DeWalt, especially because Costco has a great return policy.

The vacuum is excellent. I cleaned my garage with it without issue. The cord length is fine and if you really need more length that’s what an extension cord is for. The price was fantastic at the time of purchase and with all the accessories it comes with it makes it a steal. If you’re looking for a great shop vac without spending over $100 (or more), this is well worth the money.

For anyone in the construction trade, you will find that the filter is smaller than the standard size. Meaning you have to do extra research and or buy a replacement from Dewalt. Dewalt has gone the way of John Deer and made it hard if not impossible to repair or replace needed items to keep your machine working. I will be returning this item to Costco, albeit not their fault. Just like John Deer, this will be the last time I purchase their products until they fix the problem they created.
