I used the Rowenta Professional Iron before but this is hand down a much better iron. Fall in love with this iron from the first time to use it. This iron plate is bigger than normal iron. The weight is in the right portion. The ceramic plate is smooth and easy to move forward and back. The steam is quite strong since it is also a steamer. The user needs to pay attention. I almost got burn when I pressed the steam button because I placed my fingers too close to the iron. The shirts and cotton pillows normally only need one move to get them flat. I estimate that I save around 5 minutes of time in every 30 minutes ironing.

The instructions say not to use distilled water. I researched this and found out that certain irons cannot use distilled water because it will leech the mineral composites of the inside of the iron. The instructions recommend tap water. Yes, tap water will clog the steam holes, which is why every time you use steam, you must use the self-clean function. I used the self-clean function according to the directions. But afterwards, you cannot use the iron again until it is completely cool, or water will leak all over. I recommend either using an iron where distilled water can be used, or buying a non-steam iron and using a spray bottle.

This is the best iron we have ever owned. Other than the cord being a little difficult to pull out the first time we used it, it has been a dream. The controls are easy to use. I love the off option. Most importantly, it removes wrinkles and even deep creases on the first pass. The water reservoir is huge, so it doesn’t need constant refilling. It has a large dispersement of steam holes so it gets the job done quickly. It’s heavier than our old iron, but that works for us because the extra weight adds to its ability to take out creases easily without having to apply a lot of pressure myself. Great iron!

I wasn’t going to purchase another iron as I am always disappointed with their performance. However I am more than satisfied with this iron. I switched over to a hand held steamer several years back and at the time did not realize its limitations as I was influenced by the demonstrator. I am a person who loves to iron but wasn’t getting the results I expected from any iron after long term use. At this time I am enjoying the steam performance of this iron. Most of my clothing needs to be pressed with a sufficient amount of steam. So far this iron is delivering a great amount of steam even set at a minimal level. I hope to have many more good years with this iron.

Since I started sewing, I’ve been needing to iron much more. My old iron would leak rusty water at the start of each use. Decided to get this one after seeing great reviews and a much better price at Costco. I’m so glad I made this purchase. The iron works great. Heats up quickly enough, no issues with leaks or rusty water. It had a bit of a distinct smell when brand new, but that went away after a few uses (as expected). My dad irons *everything* and after my second or third time using this, I knew I’d found the perfect birthday gift for him.

Unboxed it and plugged it in. A couple minutes later I was ironing.
The iron was not gliding smoothly over my cotton shirt but kind of sticking to it.
So, I stopped and looked at the iron closely.
It was smoking and waxy brown stuff was oozing out of the steam ports and onto my shirt!
So, I returned it and bought another.
I managed to get one shirt ironed with CHI number two but it smells much like the first so I have my doubts about longevity.
It does not glide smoothly over my cotton shirt like the stainless soleplate on my Rowenta.
I would not recommend this iron to anyone.

I am basically happy with my new iron. There are some kinks, though. The retractable cord seemed very desirable but it is short and I still have to use an extention cord. Also the cord exits on a wrong side for me and I have to constantly move it off the ironing board. It should be at the back of the iron. The water fill entry is awkward but possible to get used to, and the level of water in the iron is clearly visible (much better than in my previous Rowenta). The controls are a bit strange, different from any iron I ever had, too many steps.

The iron does a great job of ironing, and that’s the most important thing of any iron. My old iron played out after more than 30 years. I decided on this one because it was on sale and got good reviews. I believe it will serve me well. My only disappointment is the size. It’s massive and heavy. But it glides easily, so the weight has not affected its ease of use.Unfortunately it does not fit inside the wall holder I installed for my previous iron. Of course that’s understandable since it was made for that particular iron. A wall holder is a nice feature for an iron, and I will look into finding one that will hold this iron.
